Rodney “RP” Darnell Patterson
Rodney Darnell Patterson, affectionately known as “RP,” was born to Mary Louise (Patterson) Perry and the late William Edmonds, on December 31, 1961, in Mount Holy, New Jersey. Rodney departed this earthly life on Saturday 17, 2022.
Funeral Services are Monday, September 26, 2022, at 10am, at Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, 2502 Richmond Hill Rd, Augusta, GA 30906.
Rodney received Christ at an early age, under the leadership of his Great-Grandfather, Albert Patterson and Great- Grandmother, Bishop Katie Patterson. He was an active member of Temple of God Holiness Church in Tabernacle, New Jersey. Rodney was raised by his grandparents the late Alfred and Olivia Patterson.
Rodney received his elementary and secondary education from Lenape School System. He graduated from Shawnee High School, where he was a standout Football player in 1979. After high school, Rodney joined the Army. Rodney was a super Eagles and 76ers fan. He enjoyed fishing, cards and any competitive sport.
Rodney leaves to cherish his memory, Carolyn Coney (Life partner); his five sons, Eric Rosado (Step-son) (Jessica) (Dubuque, IA), Derik Coney (Port Wentworth, GA) Darnell Coney (Augusta, GA), Akeem Coney (Augusta, GA), Kyle Coney (Aticia)(Davenport, IA); daughter, Zakira Chambers (Philadelphia, PA); and two honorary sons, Bryan Smith (Chenel) (Waterville, ME) and Tryquanne Smith (Stockbridge, GA). Rodney is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Erica Rosado, Samantha Rosado, Eric Rosado Jr. Gabriel Rosado, Tre’Von Coney, Juelz Coney, Ariel Coney, Juliet Chambers and Princeton Chambers.; one great grandchild, Elias Boyd; two aunts, Linda Percel and Audrey Patterson; four uncles, Myron Patterson, Kenneth Patterson, Lawrence Patterson and Richard “Yada” Dean; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and two special cousins, Tonya Imes-Patterson and Michael “Haz” Patterson.
He is preceded in death by one brother, William “Bill” Edmonds, Jr., three uncles, Irvin, Ronald and Butch Patterson and one aunt, Wanda Johnson.
