Joseph “Joe” Welton Williams, Sr.

Augusta, GA – Joseph “Joe” Welton Williams, Sr. 81, husband of the late Carolyn Mathis Williams, entered into rest on Friday, May 29, 2020 at his residence.
A private graveside service will be held in the Hillcrest Memorial Park with Pastor Tommy Harwell officiating.
Mr. Williams was a native of Avera, GA and the son of the late Samuel and Queen Parish Williams. He was a lifelong truck driver who had recently retired from Penske Truck Rental. He was “The Augusta Trucker” and had received several Million Mile awards for safety during his career. Mr. Williams never met a stranger and loved his family dearly. He attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Gibson, GA.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Williams; grandson, Ashton Burkart; as well as several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include ; daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Billy Burkart; his sons, Franklin Williams, Michael Williams and Richard “Ricky” Williams; brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Betty Williams; sister, Mary Hall; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
