Betty Walden Brassell

Augusta, GA – Betty Walden Brassell, 90, wife of the late John Lee Brassell, entered into rest Thursday, June 18, 2020, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 22, 2020, at 11:00 AM from Westover Memorial Park with Reverend Billy Atkins and Reverend Richard Smith officiating.

Mrs. Brassell, daughter of the late Lizzie Lee Walden and Luce Walden, was born in Davisboro, GA, and was a teacher with the Richmond County Board of Education, teaching 20 years at Butler High School.  She was known to all of her students as “Mrs. B.”   She was a member of Fleming Baptist Church and the Catherine Newman Sunday School class.  She also volunteered with Gibson Nursing Home. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Brassell.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Gault, of Augusta; her son, Johnny L. Brassell (Sharon), of Matthews, GA; her grandson, Jeremy Brassell (Amy), of Stapleton, GA; her granddaughter, Sandy Brassell, of Matthews, GA; her great grandchildren, Katelyn, Krislyn, and Jett Brassell, Tyler Gault, and Melissa Eddison (Buck); her great great grandchild, Cole Eddison; her sisters Doris Smith, of North Augusta, SC, and Margie Howell, of Jackson, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
